Shafiat Sobhan is a prominent business executive in Bangladesh, having received his education in the United Kingdom. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of Bashundhara Group and plays a crucial role on its Board of Directors. His responsibilities span multiple sectors, including LP gas, food and beverage, trading, and entertainment. He oversees agricultural, horticultural, and industrial projects, managing the Bashundhara and East-West Special Economic Zones and the Sundarbans Industrial Complex.
Upon joining Bashundhara Group, Shafiat quickly advanced to leadership positions, securing roles as Vice Chairman and Board Member. In these capacities, he leverages his extensive industry knowledge and expertise across strategic planning, HR development, finance, and investment management. His leadership has been instrumental in guiding the company through significant growth and diversification.
Under his direction, Bashundhara Group has experienced significant expansion, particularly in the LP gas, shipping, and engineering sectors. He was instrumental in launching the country’s first automated LP gas cylinder production facility. He has driven the expansion into new business areas such as food and beverage and shipping and logistics. These initiatives have broadened the group’s operational scope and ventured into new industries, including entertainment and sports.

Shafiat is well-regarded for his professional contributions and is a member of the FBCCI's LPG Operators Association of Bangladesh. He also served as a Board Director at the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industries in 2015. Internationally, he was honored with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the United States in 2011 and named ‘Most Influential Retail Leader’ by Business Tabloid in 2021.
